HEADWAY NORTHAMPTON NEEDS HELP
Headway Northampton C.I.O. is a locally based registered charity supporting those that have sustained either a traumatic or acquired brain injury. We provide a pragmatic approach to their rehabilitation, through numerous, varied groups and workshops. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work with us at our Specialist Brain Injury Day Centre based at Heathfield Way, Kingsheath in Northampton. No previous knowledge of brain injury and its effects is needed as full training will be given. We are a community based unit and are in desperate need of physically fit and willing volunteers to help us maintain our building and outside space. This would be varied and does need people that can work on their own initiative with practical skills. Volunteers would be doing general handyman maintenance jobs.
We also need people that are prepared to share their skills, we want to hear from you. If you can share your creative skills whether that is a passion for knitting or sewing, art or craft, jewellery making, mixed media projects, creative writing, singing and music, these are just an idea of some of the activities we want to offer and need volunteers to help us. Help is also needed for clients that have problems with communication, reading and understanding, as well as a loss of self- esteem and confidence because of their brain injury. They may have physical difficulties that they need help with so that they are able to fully engage, in the activity, or their vision may have been impaired so they need help with reading and understanding. Are you patient and understanding? Can you help? If you think you may be able to please get in touch
We also have a Health and Well being suite so if you are a self-employed hairdresser, beautician, or therapist, that could help with activities in this area or could lead a session on yoga or exercise, we would really like to hear from you.
